Popular musician and homecook J’Something and Chef David Higgs kept attendees of the Home Makers expo at Menlyn Time Square, in the
east of Pretoria, on the edge of their seats with their quick and easy-to-make dishes.
During their slot of the kitchen theatre programme, the duo showed the audience how to prepare a simple steak salad along with a
tomato soup with J’Something’s tasty flatbreads.
Apart from show casing his skills, Chef Higgs shared a few kitchen pointers with the audience to help them with their day-to-day meal preparations.
He shared with the audience that it was better to keep certain veggies out of the fridge in order for them to retain their taste.
Higgs also shared that it was important to feel steak for its tenderness prior to purchasing it and even more important to allow it to rest prior to carving or serving.
The home and pro-chef duo also co-host the famous M-Net series My Kitchen Rules.
The Home Makers Expo wrapped up on Sunday after other celebrities, including Izelle Hoffman and Corli Botha showcased their skills in the kitchen.
Attendees were also able to shop around for any and everything which they felt their homes needed from the large selection of exhibitors.
