Marble Head Sommelier

Wikus is a highly accomplished, award-winning wine sommelier with a deep passion for wine and hospitality. He holds a WSET Level 3 qualification and received his sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers.

He has been the head sommelier for Marble since our first branch opened in Rosebank in August 2016. He has been an integral part of the team since the beginning, curating exceptional wine experiences for guests from around the world.

As a steward of memorable experiences through taste, Wikus exemplifies the Marble spirit.

A Career Marked by Prestige:
Awards From the South African Sommelier Association

Wikus’ sommelier training poised him for a career punctuated with prestigious awards. Most notably, he was named Best Young Sommelier in South Africa in 2017 by the South African Sommelier Association and Moët et Chandon, and later earned the prestigious title of Best Sommelier in South Africa in 2021, awarded by the South African Sommelier Association in partnership with Stellenbosch.

Wikus leads our team of sommeliers and curates the Marble Cellar to showcase the very best of the wine world. Along with his team, he selects wines for our wine list based on their quality, varietal, and area of origin to create a premium, diverse wine list with something for every preference.

Our cellar boasts a selection of both local and international wines that meet Wikus’ standards for excellence and pair beautifully with the flame-infused flavours of the Marble menu.

Seven Colour Sunday Brunch

Set against sweeping harbour and mountain views and anchored in its open fire kitchen, Marble reimagines brunch, a Cape Town favourite, as an easy, indulgent Sunday experience. Inspired by the South African “7 Colours” tradition, the experience reimagines a familiar Sunday ritual through Marble’s fire-led cooking as a contemporary expression of nostalgia and heritage.

Each plate is shaped with colour, generosity and intention, while live music carries Marble’s unmistakable atmosphere across the city this winter.
